Set up CGI goals for PLC.

Will focus on SRU  and Mult. problems from now until Dec. 1st.

Baseline assessment will be given the next week

Oct. 12, 2009  M. Steinlage, K. Stoler, D. McLaughlin, J. Sefert, K. Schmith, Discussed results of baseline assessment and made goals based on that data. We will be doing at least 2 CGI problems per week, one SRU  and one Multiplication. Problems were written for each problem type. (See problems listed on Grade 2 page)
Oct. 21, 2009  M. Steinlage, K. Stoler, D. McLaughlin, J. Sefert, K. Schmith, D. Sparks   Discussed ways of sharing out efficiently (i.e. Elmo, having students lay overhead transparencies over the problems to copy). We all like having problems with different dificulty levels for the st. to choose from. Discussed use of Microsoft money to help with CGI goals (Elmos for all teachers?)   Multiplication strategies: most st. draw pictures to solve
12.2.2009 Steinlage, Sparks, Stoler, McLaughlin, Schmith, Sefert Discussed counting collections-kids are going to be asked to bring things in a ziplock bag or jar. We are going to be working on multi-step problems and problems with information that is not needed to solve the problem.  These appear frequently on ITBS.  Most do CGI problem daily so one day per week is going to be set aside for counting collections.  Our PLC will be collecting data and writing a new goal to start in 2010.  Until that time, we are going to continue to work on comparison and base ten problems. We are going to do a grade level baseline data problem by 12.17.09.  We will then sort problems into solving strategies and focus on the largest group to move them to the next level. Multi-step an/or base-ten problem.  If most are diret modelers, we are going to focus on how to move them to the counting strategy.

I am also trying to edit by adding to a problem cell. When I click on "edit" computer jargon is written on the screen, it won't let me type, and I can't get to the cell to edit. I'll try again, later.
